Connectivity is what you’d expect with Bluetooth 5.0 and 802.11ac Wifi. Around the back is now a 5MP rear camera which replaces the old model’s 2MP rear camera. The front camera is still 2MP but it is now landscape-oriented, which makes more sense for video calls in my opinion. The new tablet is also slightly thinner and lighter than the old model, but not by much. Amazon says the screen is “strengthened with aluminosilicate glass” which, I assume, is an improvement over the old tablet’s screen with regards to durability.

While it still a 10.1-inch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 for full 1080p video, the screen can now get 10% brighter than the one on the outgoing model. Storage is still 32GB for the base model or you can increase that to 64GB for $30 more, but that’s not entirely necessary since there is still a microSD card slot with support for up to 1TB of external storage.Īmazon is touting an improved screen on the new model.


What has changed, however, is a welcomed bump up from 2GB to 3GB of RAM in the new model. Powering the new Fire HD 10 is still the same MediaTek MT8183 octa-core CPU that clocks in at 2 GHz. The extra $30 for the “Plus” model adds even more RAM, wireless charging, and a premium soft touch finish. Compared to the outgoing model that was released in 2019, the new Fire HD 10 has more RAM to improve performance and a brighter screen that is made with stronger glass.
